SAGU NAMED 2010-11 MISL GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR
Blast Keeper Anchored League-Leading Defense and Led Team to Championship Appearance
Wednesday, March 23, 2011 - The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Baltimore Blast goalkeeper Sagu has been voted the 2010-11 MISL Goalkeeper of the Year. The 38-year-old native of Sao Paulo, Brazil led the league with 14 wins and will be in the net Friday when the Blast host the Milwaukee Wave in the MISL Championship Game.
Sagu, a member of three previous Blast championship teams, started the season with five straight wins and went on an eight-game win streak from January 21 to February 27. He held the Blast’s opponents to less than 10 points eight times this season and was named MISL Goalkeeper of the Month in November, December and February. Sagu also won Goalkeeper of the Year honors after the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, as well in 2000 and 2001 when he played in the WISL. This is sixth All-League selection.
Sagu, who is playing in his seventh season with the Blast, played more minutes than any other goalkeeper this season and was second in the league with a 9.64 points against average. He ranked fourth with a 74.7 save percentage. Prior to playing in Baltimore, Sagu spent two seasons with the MISL club in Dallas and three seasons in the WISL.
To determine winners of the postseason awards, members of the media, MISL coaches and team personnel were asked to cast votes for first-place (worth five points), second-place (three points), and third-place (one point) for MISL Goalkeeper of the Year.
A complete list of the Major Indoor Soccer League’s awards is available at www.MISL.net.

MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Friday the signing of goalkeeper Evan Bush for the 2011 season.
Bush, who turned 25 years-old on March 6, played in 25 games with Baltimore Crystal Palace last season. In 2009, he donned the uniform of the Cleveland City Stars, also in second division. He played his first professional game on May 30, 2009, against Charleston.
He has also worn the colours of the Chicago Fire Premier, in 2006, the reserve team for the Chicago Fire (MLS). The goalkeeper, originally from Concord Township, Ohio, played his college career with Akron, from 2005 to 2008.
“Evan Bush is an excellent addition to our goalkeeper core,” said Matt Jordan, Impact director of soccer operations and former team goalkeeper from 2007 to 2010. He is a proven player in our league and from what he has shown us thus far, he will fit well into our team. Being in Montreal will provide him with a great opportunity to continue growing as a player.”
“It is an honour for me to play in Montreal,” said Bush. “The future of this club is very bright. I am really excited to become a part of this first class organization. This will be an exciting season and I will try to help my new teammates win a championship.”
Bush becomes the second goalkeeper under contract after Bill Gaudette, and the 20th player under contract for the 2011 NASL season. Bush, who was on a tryout in Arizona, will take part in the Impact’s next training session, on Monday morning, in Brossard.
