BECKWITH RETIRES
Goalkeeper Rob Beckwith today turned his back on football and left
Barnet FC.

The 24-year-old 6ft 2ins tall Beckwith, who joined the Bees last season after playing for Luton Town and then Chesterfield on loan, was one of four players circularised yesterday as available for emergency loan.

He told Ian Hendon his feelings then and today went to Underhill and resigned.

Beckwith, who has the No 1 squad number, toldwww.barnetfc.com before he left the club: "I've just not got the heart for it any more ... I don't see too much point in going through the motions."I've had a lot of knock backs in my time but this has nothing to do with injury.I just don't enjoy it any more".

Beckwith, who played for Hitchin before he joined the Bees, thanked
club captain and goalkeeping coach Lee Harrison, chairman Tony
Kleanthous and Barnet supporters for backing him in his time with the Bees.

Ironically, Harrison kept him out of the side for a long time when he arrived at Underhill and Israeli goalkeeper Ran Kadoch has snatched his chance of the first team jersey due to Beckwith's recent injury problem.

Beckwith was tipped for the top and linked with Arsenal when he was at Luton, but he was plagued with injuries in his time at Kenilworth Road.

Beckwith has been restricted to 17 appearances at Underhill, six of
them this season.
