STOCKDALE SIGNS CONTRACT EXSTENSION
Fulham goalkeeper and PRO-GK endorsee David Stockdale has signed an extension to his contract which will keep him at the Club until the summer of 2013.

Stockdale joined the Whites from Darlington in 2008 and made his Premier League debut this season in Fulham’s victory over Everton at Craven Cottage.

Speaking from the Club’s Motspur Park training ground today, Stockdale was clearly delighted to have put pen to paper.

“It means the world to me really,” he said. “It was great to be here in the first place and I’m settled here and have had the opportunity to show what I can do. Thankfully the Club has rewarded me.

“The keepers here are great to learn from and there’s a wonderful rapport, if I can do half of what Schwarzer and Zuberbuhler have done in their careers, it would be a great career to look back on. I’m working with the best here at Fulham and it was nice to get an opportunity in the Premier League against Everton earlier this season.”

Stockdale's choice of glove is the PRO-GK Revolution Aqua Roll Finger which is now available at great-save.com

CHRIS SMITH MAKES PLAYING RETURN
PRO-GK Endorsee has this week signed on loan with Scottish 1st division Dunfermline Athletic. The former Scotland Under 21 international played his part in a 2-1 win away to Queen of the South.

A interview with Chris can be seen below (with thanks to dafc.co.uk)

Following his on-loan signing Chris Smith was delighted to return to competitive football in Dunfermline's game at Dumfries on Tuesday night. Apart for a closed doors game against Falkirk three weeks ago the St Mirren player has been out for over eight months with a knee ligament injury. Before boarding the team coach outside Palmerston, the keeper had a few words for the website:-

"It was good although I have just spoken to the Manager and said that I am very very rusty. It was good to get a game since that's just my second game in eight months, hopefully there is better to come because I wasn't happy with it. I wasn't happy with how I did in the first hour to 70 minutes. I just need to get that match experience back again. Hopefully I can pick it up again for Saturday.

"The boys in front of me were outstanding - the defenders were brilliant, everybody played their part and did really well. It was a great result on a very heavy park that didn't give much of a chance to play football. I am delighted with a 2-1 win down here."

He made his debut in First Division football with the Buddies but that was only two end of season games against Ross County and St Johnstone in 2005. Nevertheless he was well aware of the tightness of that division and the enormity of his task against the league leaders. The slippery ball in horrid first half conditions did not make for a comfortable baptism for the new keeper but he played that down:-

"I had a couple of saves but they were just straight forward. I am looking forward to playing as many games for Dunfermline just now for the short space of time that I am here. Hopefully I can do well and help them push up the table."

The 23 year-old keeper's last match for St Mirren was in March when he was part of the successful cup win over Celtic. He will be at East End Park until mid January and added:-

"The Manager has brought me in and hopefully I can repay him by putting in some good performances."

Chris certainly gave his all on his Pars debut but there were fears when he required treatment in added time. A collision with Queens striker, Derek Holmes meant that he sustained a cut to his right ear:-

"That's part and parcel, I'll take that any day of the week as long as we get a win. I have played with wee Burkie and know a lot of them from playing against them at youth level. They are a good bunch of lads and hopefully I will do well."

After 80 appearances for Dunfermline, Paul Gallacher moved to St Mirren in the summer and the on loan keeper says that the former Pars keeper has made a massive influence on Chris' development since his arrival there in the summer.

"Gall is a great guy. I think the Manager spoke to him before bringing me here and Gall said some nice things. He is a real professional and will do well for St Mirren. He has been by far the best performer this season and I am sure that he can go further."

Despite making nearly 100 appearances for the Paisley club, the competition for the Saints goalkeeper's shirt will not be easy for Chris given Paul Gallacher's success in the SPL with Gus MacPherson's team; success that saw him called up into the international squad after an absence of over over five years.

"I have been ready to go and play games for about the last two months but trying to get games organised is not easy when there is no reserve league in the SPL."

DALE ROBERTS INTERVIEW
Dale you were given your opportunity during midweek, getting your chance back in the team.

Yeah that's the thing, obviously I've been working hard, its been disappointing not playing, watching it from the sides, but I feel as though I've come back stronger, I just want to keep my place in the team and will be working hard to do that.

It must be a little bit strange going away with England C when you didn't have a place in the club side at the time.

Yeah, a little bit frustrating, but I knew all I had to do was concentrate on working hard and doing the right things and just getting on with it and its paid off.

I just know myself I've got to take every opportunity that comes and grasp it with both hands. I'm still a young lad and I'm still learning but it's a learning curve, and I feel like I've come back stronger.

Fair play to Nathan as well, me and him work hard together and I've learnt quite a lot from him.

It's a strange situation for a goalkeeper isn't it, compared to outfield players, because there's only the one place, and its not like you can come on to have 20 minutes at the end really.

Yeah that's the thing, its harder for a goalkeeper, when you make mistakes you get looked at, but that's the only way you get your chance, obviously if another goalkeeper makes a mistake or gets injured, but you've just got to sit tight and work hard.

Is there a good bond between the goalkeepers here?

Yeah, we work hard in training, there's a bit of banter between the goalkeepers union, so we all stick together.

Did Nathan say anything to you about gaining your place back on Tuesday?

Nathan wished me luck, which was excellent from him, because he's a nice lad. He just encouraged me to go out there and show everyone what I can do, he's got full confidence in my ability, which is a pleasing thing.

Presumably you have as well?

Yeah that's the thing, no-one had to say a lot to me on Tuesday night, I just wanted to go out and grasp the chance and hopefully I've done that.

It was only a couple of weeks ago there was talk of you possibly going out on loan?

I had quick chat with the Manager about it, but that's it really. Its hard as a goalkeeper if you are not playing, you just need to get your eye in and confidence up.

Once you are in you've got to stay in, and we'll just see how it goes from here.
