The 21-year-old custodian has some large boots to fill since agreeing a deal to take over from Danny McDonnell as City’s number one.
Evesham-born Meredith (pictured) spent two years on the books at Team Bath and played against Worcester twice in last year’s league campaign, tasting both victory and defeat.
However, the West Country side’s decision to resign from the Conference, after being told they would not be allowed promotion to the Blue Square Premier because of their constitution, left Meredith without a club.
He is now looking to make the most of his new opportunity as Richard Dryden’s team bid for success in the 2009/10 campaign.
“It’s a good level to play at but I am looking to excel as well and I feel that at Worcester I can do that,” Meredith said.
“I was playing first-team football with Team Bath and I had trials at other clubs like Exeter City. I came here, spoke to the manager and he offered me just what I wanted.
“It’s my local club but they are a good club, they were decent last year when Team Bath played them.
“It’s been really good so far, I’ve enjoyed it. All the lads are great and so is the manager.”
Following McDonnell’s decision to leave the club and retire from football, Meredith is set to work with a new keeping coach and have former Cambridge United reserve stopper Richard Mace as his understudy.
Meredith was rested for last Saturday’s pre-season trip to Hinckley but Dryden has been impressed so far and the former Aston Villa and Birmingham City trainee is set to wear the gloves for the league opener against Bromley.
Team Bath, who defeated Worcester 2-0 at the Lane last October but lost by the same score in January’s reverse, finished eleventh last season, while City ended in 16th.
Meredith, however, is optmistic about City’s chances over the coming months. On his hopes for the new term, he said: “Hopefully play-offs, possibly promotion, we’ll see how the season goes.”

PRO-GK.COM caught up with Hereford United's new stopper yesterday in a exclusive interview , here is what Barts had to say
PRO-GK :
Adam , you had a superb season last year , playing for the England C team , you we're Kidderminster's player of the year , the Non League Paper's goalkeeper of the year and to cap it all off you played in the play off final for Cambridge ! What was the highlight of your season do you think ?
AB :
For me personally the whole season was the highlight, playing my first season in the blue square premier was a great experience and to do so well was a massive bonus in what was a good season for myself and Kidderminster Harriers. The play off final was unbelievable, 35 thousand at wembley was fantastic but it was dissapointing to be on the losing side especially in the circumstances with so much at stake.
Finishing the season with my 6th England C cap was again an honour and
to be given the chance to represent my country was a great way to round the season off.
PRO-GK :
You recently signed for Hereford in League Two , you had alot of interest from other clubs , why did you choose them ?
A.B :
I wanted to make the progression into the football league after a good season in the blue square premier. Hereford United gave me the opportunity to do so. I could have signed for a number of clubs in the blue square premier who would be challenging for honours but league football was my ambition. When the calls came in from league clubs , I felt Hereford was the right club for me.
PRO-GK :
After your release from Newcastle United you dropped into non league with Blyth Spartans , within two years you have worked your way back into the football league . . . what would you put that down to and is there any advice you could give young goalkeepers ?
A.B :
I'd say it was down to hard work and a desire to improve and progress. Blyth Spartans was a great learning curve and I feel I improved throughout my time there because of the amount of games I was playing. My advice would be to play as many games as possible. To improve and progress you need regular playing time
whatever the standard.
PRO-GK :
What is a typical match day for AB in terms of preperation?
A.B :
A typical matchday would consist of a pre-match meal which I prefer around 3hours 15mins before kick off. Other than that its just a chilled out morning watching tv but no computers, I feel playing the PS3 or X-Box affects concentration so I dont reccomend them on a matchday. Then it would be off to the ground getting there an hour and 45minutes before kick off for preparation and pre-match talks. My warm up starts 50minutes beforekick off and finshes 15 minutes before so I have a good 35minute workout before going in to get ready for the game.
PRO-GK :
How pairs of gloves would you normally take with you on match day ?
A.B :
I always take 2 pairs of gloves to a game. I make sure they are the same style of glove at the moment im wearing a roll finger (The Revolution 09 or Revolution PRO)
I warm up in one before wearing the other for the game.
PRO-GK :
What made you decide to wear PRO-GK ?
A.B :
I decided on PRO-GK simply for the quality of the glove. They are an upcoming brand and a glove of the future at the top levels of the game. The company has a desire to be up there with the bigger brands and with the quality of gloves they are distributing it's only a matter of time before they get there in my opinion , since i joined ive been very impressed with the gloves and how PRO-GK go about things
PRO-GK :
If you could sum up your gloves in 5 words what would they be ?
A.B
Awesome, ledge, class, different gravy! : )

Goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap was named Week Five USL First Division Player of the Week after his 11 save performance Saturday night in a 0-0 draw with the Portland Timbers.
The City Stars rode Gilstrap's brilliant performance to their first point of the season, bringing the overall record to 0-3-1.
It marks the second Player of the Week award in Gilstrap's career as he was named the USL Second Division Player of the Week on August 7th 2007.
Gilstrap's performance became more impressive down the stretch as the third-year City Stars keeper registered eight saves in the second half including two marvelous saves in the final minutes that preserved the clean sheet.
Gilstrap served as the captain during Saturday's match due to an injury to normal captain Godfrey Tenoff and led a lineup that was missing six starters.
"Being named player of the week is pretty cool because it doesn't happen for goalkeepers too often," said Gilstrap. "This is my second time now so I feel lucky. Earning a point on Saturday was huge for us. I felt we were able to fix a lot of our defensive problems from the first three matches and I'm just glad I was able to contribute."
